It can be challenging to determine which type of note is needed for each specific situation. Below is a summary of the types of notes and when they should be used.<\/p>\n<h2>Sheet Notes<\/h2>\n<p>When entering data in a sheet you can add a note to that sheet. This note is stored by Sheet, Level, and Version. To add a sheet note go to the upper right of a sheet and click \u201cAdd Sheet Notes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2389 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW1-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If a sheet note already exists, click in the same spot to edit an existing note.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2374 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW2-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Notes are stored with who last updated the note and when. This will be updated when a note is edited.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2375 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW3-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sheet notes cannot appear in reports since they are associated with the sheet rather than the data. To add or modify sheet notes users must have \u2018Editable Sheet Access\u2019 permission.<\/p>\n<h2>Cell Notes<\/h2>\n<p>When entering data in a sheet you can add notes to individual cells. Cell notes exist at the cross section of time, account, level, and version.<\/p>\n<p>To add a cell note go to an individual cell in a sheet, right click and select \u201cAdd Note\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2376 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW4-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"217\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Users can edit or remove existing notes in the same manner as adding the note; right click on the cell with a note (denoted by a red triangle).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2377 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW5-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If \u201cEdit Note\u201d is chosen it will show you the existing note and the last updated \u2013 these fields will be updated upon editing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2378 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW6-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cell notes are searchable from the Sheets overview using the three dots on the upper right.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2379 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW7-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"151\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In Reports to see a Cell note show up, the Report Properties must be set to \u201cShow Cell Notes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2380 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW8-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"304\" height=\"258\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once this setting is checked off, cell notes will appear at the exact intersection of the note. Consolidations of Level, Time, or Accounts will not show cell notes. The cell note will show as a footnote as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2381 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW9-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"358\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Creating cell notes requires \u201cEditable Sheet Access\u201d permission.<\/p>\n<h2>Report Notes<\/h2>\n<p>Report notes are added when viewing a report. Use the drop down on the top right to \u201cAdd Report Note\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2382 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW10-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"125\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In order to add a report note the report must be saved, if a parameter is changed the report will need to be saved again in order to add a note. The report note is associated with that individual report and level. These notes are visible at the level the note was added and any consolidation of that level.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an example of the report at a roll up of \u2018California\u2019 with \u2018CA Claims\u2019 being the level the note was added on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2383 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW11-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Report notes can be edited by their original creator or deleted by anyone with \u201cModify All Reports\u201d permission.<\/p>\n<h2>Line Notes<\/h2>\n<p>Line notes are added to reports on individual lines of a report. They are associated with the exact row and any filters applied to the report. To add a line note, right click on an element on the rows and click \u201cAdd Line Note\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2384 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW12-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Line notes will appear to the right of the report as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2385 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW13-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"626\" height=\"189\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To see further information about a line note, click the \u2018More\u2019 button.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2386 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/CW14-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"626\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To edit a note, click on the pencil (only the user who created the note can edit).<\/p>\n<p>Line notes will appear in rollups of any filters (for example if California was selected vs CA Claims).<\/p>\n<p>Line notes can appear inline, as footnotes or be removed completely.
