{"id":3426,"date":"2023-04-12T15:33:06","date_gmt":"2023-04-12T15:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/how-to-add-and-configure-an-action-button\/"},"modified":"2023-04-12T17:00:10","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T17:00:10","slug":"how-to-add-and-configure-an-action-button","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/how-to-add-and-configure-an-action-button\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Add and Configure an Action Button"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Adding an Action Button<\/h2>\n<p>To add an action button, click on the cell where you want the button to be placed, then go to the TM1 ribbon, and click \u201cAction Button\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1226 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P1-min-1024x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"109\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A button is created, and the action button properties window will open.\u00a0 Here you can define the button\u2019s action properties.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1227 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P2-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"657\" height=\"772\" \/><\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h3>Action Button Actions:<\/h3>\n<p>An action button can have four actions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Run a Turbo Integrator Process<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This option is used to configure a button to run a Turbo Integrator (TI) process within a report. \u00a0When this option is selected, users can define the properties in the \u201cProcess\u201d tab<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have the option of defining the process name and parameters (if any) directly in the Excel report, and use the blue icon to reference the cells correspondingly. Please note, a parameter reference is a cell range, which needs all parameters in the correct order, as they are defined in the process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1228 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P3-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"716\" height=\"779\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alternatively, users can pick the process name from a dropdown list and define parameters within the button properties widow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1229 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P4-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"703\" height=\"780\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Users can define process complete messages as well by clicking the \u201cOptions\u201d button. By default, the process displays \u201cProcess completed successfully\u201d when is succeeds, or \u201cProcess failed\u201d when failed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1230 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P5-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"802\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Go to another worksheet<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This option is used to create a button to open up another report. When this option is selected, users define the action in Worksheet tab<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Users can either select the Target report through \u201cTM1 Applications\u201d or \u201cFiles\u201d. If selecting Files, click \u2018Browse\u2019 to open the Windows Explorer to navigate to the targeted report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1231 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P6-min-1024x398.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Match Title Elements<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>If the two reports have the same dimension(s) as selector(s), checking this box allows the two report\u2019s element selections to sync. For example, the below report has the following Title Elements as selectors: Actual Version, All Entities, All Cost Centers, and 2014.\u00a0 If the targeted report has matching title elements, when the action button is clicked, it will pass the selections to the Target report upon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Note: if there are other items you want to map between source worksheet and target worksheet that fall outside of the title elements, users can click \u201cAdvanced Options\u201d button to define mapping(s) manually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1232 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P7-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"877\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Replace Current Workbook<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>When this box is checked, the first report will be closed when the targeted report is opened. It acts as a Toggle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calculation options<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Automatically recalculate sheet, rebuild sheet or None. Users will need to select either automatically recalculate sheet or rebuild sheet depending on the nature of the targeted report (if a regular static report, select automatically recalculate sheet, if an active form\/dynamic report, select rebuild sheet)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1233 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/P8-min-1024x610.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Run a process, then go to a worksheet<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This option is a combination of run a Turbo Integrator Process and Go to another Worksheet. When this option is selected, users can use the Process tab to define the process and the Worksheet tab to define the target worksheet. Please refer to 1 and 2 for details<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Calculate\/Rebuild Only<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This option is used to create a button that either refreshes the report or does nothing.
