This includes version control and job creation\/stream automation. In this article, we\u2019ll go through the SPSS Modeler interface for interacting with C&amp;DS \u2013 storing streams, retrieving streams, and managing version control.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Connecting to the C&amp;DS Repository<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>To connect to the C&amp;DS repository within modeler, you\u2019ll need the C&amp;DS URL and login. The first time you try to perform any C&amp;DS operation in Modeler, you\u2019ll be prompted to enter connection information. This includes storing a stream, retrieving a stream, or a basic connection to C&amp;DS. For example, connect via the following steps:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1162\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After clicking Tools -&gt; Repository -&gt; Options, you\u2019ll be prompted with the following connection window:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1150\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS2-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter your C&amp;DS URL. This is typically something like:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/HOSTNAME:8080\">http:\/\/HOSTNAME:8080<\/a><\/p>\n<p>where the HOSTNAME is either the server name or IP address where C&amp;DS is currently running. Then you can enter your login credentials:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1151\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS3-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"458\" height=\"190\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you have a secondary security provider configured such as LDAP or AD, you can select that from the Provider dropdown. Once your credentials have been entered, you\u2019re connected to the C&amp;DS repository.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Storing a Stream<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Storing a stream is essentially the same as saving a stream \u2013 but onto the version-controlled C&amp;DS repository.<\/p>\n<p>You can access this option under the File menu -&gt; Store -&gt; Store as Stream<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1152\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS4-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"407\" height=\"310\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This will allow you to navigate to the file location on the repository where you\u2019d like to save\/store your stream. You can double click a folder or create a new folder with the green plus button on the top right.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1153\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS5-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"411\" height=\"396\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can also enter optional labels and notes associated with the version you\u2019re about to store on the Information tab. The Security tab will allow you to edit security\/permissions on the stream if you\u2019d like to change them from the default settings.<\/p>\n<p>If the stream does not exist in the designated location, it will create a new stream of version 0. If the stream already exists, it will create a new version of that stream. You can see the version number of the currently open stream in the filename on the top left corner of the screen:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1154\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS6-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"95\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The number after the colon is the version number that will increment each time you store the stream.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Retrieving a Stream<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Just like storing a stream is equivalent to saving a stream, retrieving a stream is equivalent to opening a stream from the repository. You can retrieve a stream under the File menu -&gt; Retrieve Stream<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1156\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS7-min-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"209\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be brought to a file explorer of the repository\u2019s contents, showing you all available streams. When you click a stream, you can open it by clicking \u2018Retrieve\u2019 at the bottom. This will automatically retrieve the most recent or LATEST version available.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1157\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS8-min-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"727\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can also click the Version&#8230; button to view available versions, the dates they were added, and the user that created each one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1158\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/SPSS9-min-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"783\" height=\"663\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click any version and \u2018Continue\u2019 to open that version of the stream.
