(i.e. TM1RPTVIEW, TM1RPTROW, SUBNM, MDX)<\/p>\n<p>Today, we will focus on the <strong>SUBNM<\/strong> function.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/support\/knowledgecenter\/SSD29G_2.0.0\/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_ref.2.0.0.doc\/r_tm1_ref_wrk_subnm.html\"><strong>SUBNM<\/strong><\/a> function can be used in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/support\/knowledgecenter\/SSD29G_2.0.0\/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cxr.2.0.0.doc\/c_ug_cxr_active_forms.html\"><strong>Dynamic Reports<\/strong><\/a> to create parameters that filter the results.\u00a0 For example, you may build an Income Statement to filter by Department or Year (assuming that Department and Period are dimensions in your Financial Reporting cube).<\/p>\n<p>In the exercise below, we will use the TM1RPTROW and the <strong>SUBNM<\/strong> functions to view the Periods dimension and its associated attributes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Let\u2019s start by creating a Dynamic Report against your Periods attribute cube.<\/li>\n<li>Since an attribute cube only has only 2 dimensions, which are likely displayed in Columns and Rows, no SUBNM formulas are inherently present in the initial report creation. (<strong>Note<\/strong>:\u00a0 In cubes with more than 2 dimensions, any dimension not displayed on the rows or columns will automatically be represented by a SUBNM function.)<\/li>\n<li>Notice our Periods dimension displays all Years in the rows based on the cube view we used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-959 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/SU1-min-1024x222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"131\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Let\u2019s <strong>add<\/strong> a SUBNM formula to limit the results to a specific Year.<\/li>\n<li>Insert a row above your report display range and create a SUBNM formula using the following syntax:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-960\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/SU2-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"565\" height=\"45\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The DIMENSION parameter must include the Planning Analytics Server Name, followed by a colon and the Dimension name.<\/li>\n<li>SUBSET is the name of the subset within the Periods dimension that you would like to display as your \u201cselection\u201d list. In our case, the subset name is \u201cYears\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>INDEXORNAME allows you to set the default selection that displays when the report opens. <em>NAME <\/em>will select a specific named element, like \u201c2020\u201d. <em>INDEX<\/em> will select the corresponding element in the list. For example, if you set the index to 7 based on the subset list shown here, the results will display for 2020\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-961\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/SU3-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ALIAS is an <strong>Optional <\/strong>parameter that allows you to choose which alias name displays in the selection list. (i.e. you may have an alternate description\/alias for the Period that you prefer, such as \u201cJan-2020\u201d vs. \u201c202001\u201d)<\/li>\n<li>Create an MDX statement and reference the SUBNM to create a dynamic row filter and link the MDX to your TM1RPTROW function. (This step is not covered in detail in this article as we are focused on the SUBNM).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-962 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/SU4-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"941\" height=\"207\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finally, make a selection in the SUBNM dropdown and refresh\/rebuild the Dynamic Report.
