{"id":3383,"date":"2023-04-12T15:32:53","date_gmt":"2023-04-12T15:32:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/quick-and-easy-top-down-planning-in-paw\/"},"modified":"2023-04-12T16:58:30","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T16:58:30","slug":"quick-and-easy-top-down-planning-in-paw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/quick-and-easy-top-down-planning-in-paw\/","title":{"rendered":"Quick and Easy Top-Down Planning in PAW"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, you\u2019ve spent some long hours painstakingly gathering inputs from all department heads to build up your highly detailed, bottoms-up forecast in Planning Analytics and now the CFO wants to make some high-level (top-down) adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>All the previous data spreading options (repeat, proportional, growth, etc.) are still available by right-clicking a cell and selecting data spread and with the new data spreading commands in Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW), top-down planning has never been easier or more intuitive.<\/p>\n<p>The following natural language commands can now be typed directly into any consolidated cell to proportionally add, subtract, multiply, divide, or take percentages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>add (e.g. add1M, add5K, etc.) \u2013 this works the same way as the \u201c+\u201d symbol<\/li>\n<li>subtract (e.g. subtract 100K) \u2013 this <em>does not <\/em>work the same as the \u201c-\u201c symbol (inputting -50K will replace the data with -50,000 rather than subtracting it)<\/li>\n<li>multiply<\/li>\n<li>divide<\/li>\n<li>percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Watch the short GIF below to see how quickly and easily you can use these new commands for top-down planning.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-545 \" src=\"https:\/\/quebit.com\/askquebit\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/TDP.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1111\" height=\"528\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, you\u2019ve spent some long hours painstakingly gathering inputs from all department heads to build up your highly detailed, bottoms-up forecast in Planning Analytics and now the CFO wants to make some high-level (top-down) adjustments.
