Business Case:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and I\u2019ve just read a very interesting QueBIT knowledge base article on how to customize my company\u2019s Cognos Analytics (CA) login page.\u00a0 (See Creating and Setting a Default Login Page for Cognos Analytics 11.0.4+).\u00a0 <\/em>Wow, what a great idea!\u00a0 I have to try it out immediately.<\/p>\n

I carefully review the images available to me, and pick one that works perfectly.\u00a0 Of course, being a good developer, I know to do this in the DEV environment.\u00a0 One small problem, however, this same DEV area is used by my entire team and is necessary for our daily work activities.\u00a0 However, I don\u2019t give this any thought at the time and gleefully go to work.<\/p>\n

I follow the directions very carefully.\u00a0 I download the SampleLoginMultiple.zip file from the IBM knowledge base.\u00a0 I then open IBM Cognos Configuration application and identify the namespace ID\u2019s.\u00a0 I update my SampleLoginView.html and image files.\u00a0 And, finally, I upload everything to Cognos Analytics.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It looks just as great as I thought it woud.\u00a0 However, when I go to log in with my credentials, I get the following error\u2026<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I go back into my SampleLoginView.html file, and realize I\u2019ve misspelled the Cognos namespace.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I can no longer log into CA to upload the corrected file.\u00a0 Panic now sets in.\u00a0 Even though it\u2019s a DEV area, my entire team needs it.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got to fix this and fast.<\/p>\n

Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Take a deep breath.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Open your browser and use the following URL to start CA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Cognos Analytics starts with all extensions disabled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        1. Once you are back into CA, you can change the view back to the default logon. In the Manage > Customizations slide-out panel, select the Views tab, click next to the default sign-in view. Select the login view as the default sign-in view and apply.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Here\u2019s another method to ensure you do not make a similar mistake in the future.\u00a0 After the sample login page extension is uploaded, but before you set the view, you can preview the screen by setting the product\u2019s URL to:<\/p>\n
