So, you’ve spent some long hours painstakingly gathering inputs from all department heads to build up your highly detailed, bottoms-up forecast in Planning Analytics and now the CFO wants to make some high-level (top-down) adjustments.

All the previous data spreading options (repeat, proportional, growth, etc.) are still available by right-clicking a cell and selecting data spread and with the new data spreading commands in Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW), top-down planning has never been easier or more intuitive.

The following natural language commands can now be typed directly into any consolidated cell to proportionally add, subtract, multiply, divide, or take percentages:

  • add (e.g. add1M, add5K, etc.) – this works the same way as the “+” symbol
  • subtract (e.g. subtract 100K) – this does not work the same as the “-“ symbol (inputting -50K will replace the data with -50,000 rather than subtracting it)
  • multiply
  • divide
  • percent

Watch the short GIF below to see how quickly and easily you can use these new commands for top-down planning.
